Welcome to Environmental Control

Environmental Control (ECO) is responsible for the District's compliance with all environmental regulations and for providing assistance to schools and departments dealing with environmental and health-related issues. ECO acts as a regulator, educator and consultant.
The ECO's Environmental Program Section manages asbestos, hazardous and industrial waste, fuel tanks, radon, environmental pre-purchase audits, wetlands, protected species, wellfield protection, coordinating demolitions and indoor air quality. This includes field inspections, sampling, waste disposal, recycling, employee training programs and contracted services.
As part of ECO, the Utilities Section is responsible for managing the District's utility services, including trash and recycling, propane, diesel and oil, and natural gas, water and sewer, and electric. In addition, the District's Green Schools Initiative is lead by the ECO.
